NETFLIX: 13th

Filmmaker Ava DuVernay explores the history of racial inequality in the United States, focusing on the fact that the nation's prisons are disproportionately filled with African-Americans. The film explores the "intersection of race, justice, and mass incarceration in the United States;" it is titled after the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, adopted in 1865, which abolished slavery throughout the United States and ended involuntary servitude except as a punishment for conviction of a crime.

I teamed up with the Elastic team to work on the opening graphics of Ava DuVernay's 13th on Netflix. My work for the open contributed to animation styles and elements that carried throughout the entire project. I received a Primetime Emmy® Award in Motion Design category for this work in 2017.
